[89:1] By the dawn.

[89:2] By the ten nights.

[89:3] By the even and the odd.

[89:4] By the night as it passes.

[89:5] Is this an oath for those who possess intelligence?

[89:6] Do you not see what your Lord did to the Aad?

[89:7] Eram, founded on pillars.

[89:8] The likes of which were not created in any civilization.

[89:9] And to the Thamoud who carved mansions in the rocks of the valley?

[89:10] And to Pharaoh, possessor of might?

[89:11] They were transgressing civilizations.

[89:12] They continuously spread corruption.

[89:13] Consequently, your Lord poured upon them a whipping suffering.

[89:14] Indeed your Lord is ever watchful.

[89:15] When the human being is tested by His Lord, and He honors him and blesses him, he says, my Lord has honored me.

[89:16] But when He puts him to a test and reduces his provisions, he then says, my Lord has humiliated me.

[89:17] No absolutely not! It is you who has not honored the fatherless.

[89:18] And have never encouraged feeding the poor.

[89:19] And have devoured inheritance with greed.

[89:20] And you loved money with unending love.

[89:21] Absolutely, when the land is utterly pulverized,-

[89:22] -and your Lord comes as well as the angels, row after row,-

[89:23] -on that day, Gehenna will be brought forth. On that day the human will be reminded, and what a reminder.

[89:24] He will say, O I wish I had prepared for my life.

[89:25] Then on that day, his suffering will be like none other.

[89:26] And His confinement will be like none other.

[89:27] As for you, O contented soul,-

[89:28] -return to your Lord, pleased, and pleasing.

[89:29] Enter along with My servants,-

[89:30] -and enter My Paradise.
