[52:1] By the Mountain.

[52:2] By the written scripture.

وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْمَعْمُورِ٤

[52:4] By the renovated House.

وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ٥

[52:5] By the high ceiling.

وَٱلْبَحْرِ ٱلْمَسْجُورِ٦

[52:6] By the sea as it rages.

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٌۭ٧

[52:7] Indeed the punishment of your Lord is surely forthcoming.

مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٍۢ٨

[52:8] Nothing can stop it.

يَوْمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوْرًۭا٩

[52:9] The day when the sky will be in turmoil.

وَتَسِيرُ ٱلْجِبَالُ سَيْرًۭا١٠

[52:10] And the mountains will be in full motion.

فَوَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ١١

[52:11] Therefore woe to the rejecters on that day.

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى خَوْضٍۢ يَلْعَبُونَ١٢

[52:12] Those who play heedlessly.

يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا١٣

[52:13] The day when they will be called to the fire of Gehenna without exception.

هَٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ١٤

[52:14] This is Hell that you used to deny.

أَفَسِحْرٌ هَٰذَآ أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ١٥

[52:15] Is this then magic, or it is you who is unable to understand?

ٱصْلَوْهَا فَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ١٦

[52:16] Throw them in there. Whether you wait or do not wait, it is irrelevant, for you will be penalized for what you have done.

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَنَعِيمٍۢ١٧

[52:17] Indeed the god-fearing will be in Gardens of bliss.

فَٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ١٨

[52:18] Enjoying everything that their Lord gives them, and their Lord has spared them the suffering of the Inferno.

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ١٩

[52:19] Eat and drink joyfully as a result of your deeds.

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍۢ مَّصْفُوفَةٍۢ وَزَوَّجْنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍۢ٢٠

[52:20] They will lean on luxurious furnishings and We will pair them up with beautiful companions.

وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَٰنٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَآ أَلَتْنَٰهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍۢ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌۭ٢١

[52:21] As for those who attained faith and their families follow them in faith, We will join them to their families. We never fail to reward them for their work. Every person will be rewarded according to what he earned.

وَأَمْدَدْنَٰهُم بِفَٰكِهَةٍۢ وَلَحْمٍۢ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ٢٢

[52:22] And We will provide for them limitless fruits and the kind of meat that they desire.

يَتَنَٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًۭا لَّا لَغْوٌۭ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌۭ٢٣

[52:23] They will enjoy pitchers of drinks, never polluted and never sinful.

وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌۭ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌۭ مَّكْنُونٌۭ٢٤

[52:24] Serving them will be servants who will look like protected pearls.

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ٢٥

[52:25] They will turn to each other, reminiscing.

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِىٓ أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ٢٦

[52:26] They will say; we used to treat our families with kindness and humility.

فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ٢٧

[52:27] Therefore, God blessed us and spared us the agony of the burning wind.

إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ٢٨

[52:28] Surely, we constantly called upon Him, for He is truly the Source of Righteousness, the All Merciful.

فَذَكِّرْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍۢ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ٢٩

[52:29] Therefore, you shall remind, for you are not a priest telling a fable regarding your Lord’s blessings and you are not crazy.

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌۭ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيْبَ ٱلْمَنُونِ٣٠

[52:30] Are they saying that he is just a poet so let us just wait until he dies?

قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا۟ فَإِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ٣١

[52:31] Say; go ahead and wait and I will wait along with you.

أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَٰمُهُم بِهَٰذَآ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌۭ طَاغُونَ٣٢

[52:32] Is it their dreams that make them do this or they are just rebellious people?

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ٣٣

[52:33] Do they say that he fabricated it? On the contrary, it is they who have no faith.

فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِحَدِيثٍۢ مِّثْلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَٰدِقِينَ٣٤

[52:34] Let them then produce a Hadeeth like this if they are truthful.

أَمْ خُلِقُوا۟ مِنْ غَيْرِ شَىْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰلِقُونَ٣٥

[52:35] Were they not created from nothing? Are they themselves creators?

أَمْ خَلَقُوا۟ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ٣٦

[52:36] Did they create the skies and the land? But indeed, they have no certainty.

أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَ٣٧

[52:37] Do they possess the treasures of your Lord? Are they in control?

أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌۭ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَٰنٍۢ مُّبِينٍ٣٨

[52:38] Do they have a ladder by which they can eavesdrop? Then let their eavesdroppers produce a manifest proof.

أَمْ لَهُ ٱلْبَنَٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ٣٩

[52:39] Does He have daughters while you have sons?

أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًۭا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍۢ مُّثْقَلُونَ٤٠

[52:40] Are you asking them for a wage that burdens them with great hardship?

أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ٤١

[52:41] Do they know the future and have recorded it?

أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًۭا فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْمَكِيدُونَ٤٢

[52:42] Do they wish to scheme a plot? Then again all those who are unfaithful always scheme.

أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ سُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ٤٣

[52:43] Do they have another god besides God ? God be glorified far above what they set up as partners for Him.

وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كِسْفًۭا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطًۭا يَقُولُوا۟ سَحَابٌۭ مَّرْكُومٌۭ٤٤

[52:44] And when they see masses from the sky falling on them, they say; dense clouds.

فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ٤٥

[52:45] Therefore, leave them alone until they encounter the day when they will be completely stunned.

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ٤٦

[52:46] The Day when their schemes will not benefit them in the least nor will they be helped.

وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ عَذَابًۭا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ٤٧

[52:47] And indeed for the unjust, there is more suffering besides this, but most of them do not understand.

وَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ٤٨

[52:48] And you shall be patient for the judgment of your Lord. Indeed you are in Our eyes and glorify and praise your Lord when you rise-

وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ٤٩

[52:49] -and during the night glorify Him and as the stars fade away.
