ٱقْتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلْقَمَرُ١

[54:1] The Hour has come closer and the moon was conquered.

وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ ءَايَةًۭ يُعْرِضُوا۟ وَيَقُولُوا۟ سِحْرٌۭ مُّسْتَمِرٌّۭ٢

[54:2] And they saw a proof and said; this is continuous magic.

وَكَذَّبُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍۢ مُّسْتَقِرٌّۭ٣

[54:3] And they rejected it and followed their desires. However, every matter has a place in time.

وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ٤

[54:4] And indeed the news of what is to transpire has already come to them.

حِكْمَةٌۢ بَٰلِغَةٌۭ فَمَا تُغْنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ٥

[54:5] Plenty of wisdom, but warners are ineffective.

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَىْءٍۢ نُّكُرٍ٦

[54:6] You shall therefore, turn away from them, for the day will come when the caller will announce a terrible announcement.

خُشَّعًا أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌۭ مُّنتَشِرٌۭ٧

[54:7] With their eyes subdued, they will come out of their coffins like scattered locusts.

مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِ يَقُولُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌۭ٨

[54:8] They will rush towards the caller and the unfaithful will say; this is a difficult day.

كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍۢ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا۟ مَجْنُونٌۭ وَٱزْدُجِرَ٩

[54:9] Before them the People of Noah remained in denial, they rejected Our servant and they said; he is crazy, and he was tormented.

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَغْلُوبٌۭ فَٱنتَصِرْ١٠

[54:10] He then called upon his Lord; I am indeed defeated, therefore, help me.

فَفَتَحْنَآ أَبْوَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٍۢ مُّنْهَمِرٍۢ١١

[54:11] We therefore opened the gates of the sky with pouring water.

وَفَجَّرْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ عُيُونًۭا فَٱلْتَقَى ٱلْمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرٍۢ قَدْ قُدِرَ١٢

[54:12] And We caused springs to gush out of the ground and the flood started according to the preordained command.

وَحَمَلْنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَٰحٍۢ وَدُسُرٍۢ١٣

[54:13] And We carried him on a floater made of logs and ropes.

تَجْرِى بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَآءًۭ لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ١٤

[54:14] She floated under our eyes; as a penalty to the unfaithful.

وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَٰهَآ ءَايَةًۭ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ١٥

[54:15] And We left it as a sign; is there anyone who wishes to learn?

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ١٦

[54:16] Consequently, how terrible was My punishment after My warnings.

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ١٧

[54:17] And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand, does anybody wish to learn?

كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌۭ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ١٨

[54:18] Aad also remained in denial, then how terrible was My punishment after the warnings.

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًۭا صَرْصَرًۭا فِى يَوْمِ نَحْسٍۢ مُّسْتَمِرٍّۢ١٩

[54:19] Indeed, We sent upon them a violent wind, on a day with continuous misery.

تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍۢ مُّنقَعِرٍۢ٢٠

[54:20] It tossed people around as though they were rotten palm-tree trunks.

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ٢١

[54:21] Consequently, how terrible was My punishment after My warnings.

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ٢٢

[54:22] And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand, does anybody wish to learn?

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ٢٣

[54:23] The Thamoud also rejected the warners.

فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَبَشَرًۭا مِّنَّا وَٰحِدًۭا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذًۭا لَّفِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ وَسُعُرٍ٢٤

[54:24] Then they said; are we to follow one human from amongst us? Indeed, we will then go astray and end up in the raging inferno.

أَءُلْقِىَ ٱلذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌۭ٢٥

[54:25] Is he the one who has received the message from among all of us? No way, he is the most evil liar.

سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًۭا مَّنِ ٱلْكَذَّابُ ٱلْأَشِرُ٢٦

[54:26] They will soon find out who the most evil liar is.

إِنَّا مُرْسِلُوا۟ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةًۭ لَّهُمْ فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ وَٱصْطَبِرْ٢٧

[54:27] We will indeed send the camel as a test for them. Therefore, watch them and wait.

وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ ٱلْمَآءَ قِسْمَةٌۢ بَيْنَهُمْ كُلُّ شِرْبٍۢ مُّحْتَضَرٌۭ٢٨

[54:28] And inform them that indeed the water shall be divided amongst them; everyone is to have the drink brought forth according to his share.

فَنَادَوْا۟ صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ٢٩

[54:29] But they called on their friend to maim it and he responded.

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ٣٠

[54:30] Consequently, how terrible was My punishment after My warnings.

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ فَكَانُوا۟ كَهَشِيمِ ٱلْمُحْتَظِرِ٣١

[54:31] Indeed We sent upon them a single thunderous sound then they became like mowed dry weeds.

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ٣٢

[54:32] And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand, does anybody wish to learn?

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍۭ بِٱلنُّذُرِ٣٣

[54:33] The people of Lot rejected the warners.

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍۢ نَّجَّيْنَٰهُم بِسَحَرٍۢ٣٤

[54:34] We sent upon them a violent storm. We only delivered Lot’s progeny at dawn.

نِّعْمَةًۭ مِّنْ عِندِنَا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى مَن شَكَرَ٣٥

[54:35] It was a blessing from Us. We thus reward those who are appreciative.

وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا۟ بِٱلنُّذُرِ٣٦

[54:36] And indeed he warned them of Our punishment, but they doubted the warnings.

وَلَقَدْ رَٰوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِۦ فَطَمَسْنَآ أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ٣٧

[54:37] And they even tried to seduce his guests, but We rendered their eyes blind. Therefore, taste My punishment and warnings.

وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌۭ مُّسْتَقِرٌّۭ٣٨

[54:38] Indeed, early in the morning, they were destined for the punishment.

فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ٣٩

[54:39] Now taste My punishment and warnings.

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ٤٠

[54:40] And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand, does anybody wish to learn?

وَلَقَدْ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ٤١

[54:41] And indeed to the People of Pharaoh went warners.

كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَٰهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍۢ مُّقْتَدِرٍ٤٢

[54:42] They rejected all Our signs, We then punished them as The One who is Almighty, All Powerful should punish.

أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌۭ مِّنْ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٌۭ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ٤٣

[54:43] Are your unfaithful better than these? Have you been absolved by the scriptures?

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌۭ مُّنتَصِرٌۭ٤٤

[54:44] Or are they saying that we all can be victorious?

سَيُهْزَمُ ٱلْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ٤٥

[54:45] Soon they will all be defeated and they will turn around and flee.

بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ٤٦

[54:46] However, the Hour is their appointed time as it is promised to them, and the Hour will be a lot worse and much more painful.

إِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ وَسُعُرٍۢ٤٧

[54:47] Indeed the guilty will be totally lost in the raging Inferno.

يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا۟ مَسَّ سَقَرَ٤٨

[54:48] The day that they are dragged into Hell on their faces; taste the reality of Hell.

إِنَّا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَٰهُ بِقَدَرٍۢ٤٩

[54:49] We indeed created everything in exact measure.

وَمَآ أَمْرُنَآ إِلَّا وَٰحِدَةٌۭ كَلَمْحٍۭ بِٱلْبَصَرِ٥٠

[54:50] And whatever We command is carried out in a blink of an eye.

وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَآ أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ٥١

[54:51] And We annihilated groups of you; will you ever learn?

وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍۢ فَعَلُوهُ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ٥٢

[54:52] And everything they do is recorded in files.

وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍۢ وَكَبِيرٍۢ مُّسْتَطَرٌ٥٣

[54:53] Everything small and large is written.

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَنَهَرٍۢ٥٤

[54:54] Indeed the righteous will be in Gardens and springs.

فِى مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍۢ مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ٥٥

[54:55] In a rightful place by the All Powerful King.
