[78:1] What are they asking about?

عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ٢

[78:2] Of the great news.

ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ٣

[78:3] The very thing that they are disputing.

كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ٤

[78:4] Absolutely, they will soon find out.

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ٥

[78:5] Then again, absolutely, they will soon find out.

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَٰدًۭا٦

[78:6] Did We not make the land an oasis-

وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًۭا٧

[78:7] -and the mountains stabilizers?

وَخَلَقْنَٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًۭا٨

[78:8] And We created you in pairs.

وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًۭا٩

[78:9] And made the sleep for you to rest.

وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًۭا١٠

[78:10] And made the night a cover.

وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًۭا١١

[78:11] And made the daylight to earn a living.

وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًۭا شِدَادًۭا١٢

[78:12] And constructed above you seven firmaments.

وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًۭا وَهَّاجًۭا١٣

[78:13] And We created a beautiful lamp.

وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءًۭ ثَجَّاجًۭا١٤

[78:14] And We send down from the clouds pouring water.

لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّۭا وَنَبَاتًۭا١٥

[78:15] In order that We may produce therewith grain and vegetation.

وَجَنَّٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا١٦

[78:16] And luxurious gardens.

إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَٰتًۭا١٧

[78:17] Indeed, the Day of Judgment has a specific time.

يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًۭا١٨

[78:18] The day when the trumpet sounds they will come in waves.

وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًۭا١٩

[78:19] And the sky will open up as though it has gates.

وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا٢٠

[78:20] And the mountains will move as though they were a mirage.

إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًۭا٢١

[78:21] Indeed, Gehenna will be waiting.

لِّلطَّٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًۭا٢٢

[78:22] An abode for the rebels.

لَّٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًۭا٢٣

[78:23] They will abide therein for ages.

لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًۭا وَلَا شَرَابًا٢٤

[78:24] They will never feel a cool breeze nor will they ever taste a cool drink.

إِلَّا حَمِيمًۭا وَغَسَّاقًۭا٢٥

[78:25] Except hellish liquid and pus.

جَزَآءًۭ وِفَاقًا٢٦

[78:26] An exact requital.

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًۭا٢٧

[78:27] Indeed, they never expected any reckoning.

وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كِذَّابًۭا٢٨

[78:28] And they rejected Our Signs continuously.

وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَٰهُ كِتَٰبًۭا٢٩

[78:29] And We have counted everything in a record.

فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا٣٠

[78:30] Therefore, taste it for We will not increase anything for you except suffering.

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا٣١

[78:31] Indeed as for the god-fearing ones, they will be victorious.

حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَٰبًۭا٣٢

[78:32] Orchards and vineyards.

وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًۭا٣٣

[78:33] And spouses who are perfectly matched.

وَكَأْسًۭا دِهَاقًۭا٣٤

[78:34] And a cup of delicious drink.

لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًۭا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًۭا٣٥

[78:35] They will never hear therein any nonsense or lies.

جَزَآءًۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًۭا٣٦

[78:36] A reward from your Lord, an exactly calculated gift.

رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًۭا٣٧

[78:37] The Lord of the skies and the land, and everything between them, The All Gracious, no one has power to lecture Him.

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّۭا لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًۭا٣٨

[78:38] The day when the Spirit and the angels will stand in rows, none shall speak except the one who is permitted by The All Gracious, and he utters only what is right.

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا٣٩

[78:39] That is the day of truth, therefore, let whoever wills take a path to his Lord.

إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَٰكُمْ عَذَابًۭا قَرِيبًۭا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا٤٠

[78:40] We have indeed warned you of the impending suffering. The day when the human sees what his two hands have brought forth and the unfaithful says, O I wish I were dust.
