إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتْ١

[84:1] When the sky is split.

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ٢

[84:2] And hears her Lord and expires.

وَإِذَا ٱلْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ٣

[84:3] And when the land is stretched.

وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ٤

[84:4] And throws out what is inside it and becomes a void.

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ٥

[84:5] And hears her Lord and expires.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًۭا فَمُلَٰقِيهِ٦

[84:6] O you human being, indeed you are on an arduous journey to your Lord and you will meet Him

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ٧

[84:7] As for the one who receives his record with blessing,-

فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًۭا يَسِيرًۭا٨

[84:8] -he will soon receive an easy reckoning.

وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًۭا٩

[84:9] And he will return to his family joyfully.

وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ١٠

[84:10] But the one who receives his record behind his back,-

فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًۭا١١

[84:11] -he will soon be filled with remorse.

وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا١٢

[84:12] And he will enter a raging inferno.

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِىٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا١٣

[84:13] Indeed he used to be happy with his family.

إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ١٤

[84:14] Indeed he used to think that he would never be called to account.

بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرًۭا١٥

[84:15] Yes indeed, his Lord was always watching over him.

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ١٦

[84:16] Therefore, I swear by the dusk,-

وَٱلَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ١٧

[84:17] -and the night as it covers,-

وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ١٨

[84:18] -and the Moon going through its phases,-

لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍۢ١٩

[84:19] -you will indeed ride on classified levels.

فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ٢٠

[84:20] Then why do they not believe?

وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ٢١

[84:21] And when the Quran is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate.

بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُكَذِّبُونَ٢٢

[84:22] On the contrary the unfaithful are always in denial

وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ٢٣

[84:23] And God fully knows their innermost secrets.

فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ٢٤

[84:24] Therefore, inform them of a painful suffering.

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍۭ٢٥

[84:25] As for the faithful who lead a righteous life, reserved for them is an unending reward.
